The vast majority of listings on our platform are posted by honest and trustworthy people. However, it is important to follow a few simple rules to protect yourself from any attempted scam.

Tips for Protection

Follow these guidelines for a safe experience:

• Only do business with people you can meet in person at a safe, public location
• Never send money via anonymous payment systems such as Western Union or MoneyGram
• Never send money or products abroad
• Do not accept checks as a payment method
• Verify the identity of the person you're dealing with through additional sources
• Keep copies of all correspondence: emails, messages, listings
• If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is — walk away

Signs of a Scam Attempt

Be cautious if you notice any of the following:

• The person claims to be abroad or currently traveling
• They refuse to meet you in person
• They request payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, or check
• Messages are written in broken or awkward language
• Texts appear to be copied and pasted
• The offer seems unusually attractive
